An Excellent Friend of Mine
David, a friend of mine is a diplomat that is in charge for protocol division. His job is to help set up every single item related to the welcoming, scheduling, and foreign envoys accommodation. He is a sort of very diligent and well-groomed man. Hence personally he could always reflect the luxury touch as well as the well-mannered attitude of state’s diplomacy. Due to his excellent performance being a diplomat, he finally becomes the one that reliable for every protocol works of Foreign Affairs Department.
Once he told me an interesting experience about welcoming ceremony for British envoys in line with government’s agenda to make bilateral Memorandum of Understanding about Agriculture Joint-Agreement. As usual he always tries his best to prepare all required facilities and equipments in order to bestow a wonderful impression towards British envoys to come.
Since this MOU would be a strategic cornerstone between two countries, he early enabled all stuff necessary. He set the place for formal ceremony bilateral meeting and the signing of MOU at five-star hotel, the so-called Hilton. While the place to stay for those respectable envoys he provided an exotic villa wherein beautiful interiors given inside. To give an oriental touch, he made area rugs spread all over the main room of the villa. The rugs that he ordered earlier from abroad, with a low price, let’s say cheap rugs, in his opinion really revealed e very deep touch of oriental luxury. He was so confident and self-satisfied of all preparation to welcome the coming envoys.
Few days later, he told me further that the British envoys were fully honored and grateful of this warm welcome. He just simply said at the last minutes that he was thoroughly proud of his success. I like the way he is.
